(LYLE proudly juggles some cloth napkins.)

Mr. Primm: Go, Lyle, go! Excellent form!

Joshua: Maybe his mother taught him. Lyle, was your mother in the circus, too? Where is she? Lyle, where’s your mother?

Mrs. Primm: Lyle’s mother is right here, and she’s just noticed how late it’s getting. Time to get started on that homework, Joshua—

Joshua: I mean Lyle’s REAL mother.

(LYLE drops the napkins. They float to the ground.)

Mr. Primm: Joshua, she is Lyle’s real mother. (to LYLE) Here, let me help you, Lyle...

(MR. PRIMM picks up the napkins. LYLE stares at the floor.)

Joshua: But Mom isn’t a crocodile.

Mrs. Primm: Come here, my dears. Come here with me.

(LYLE and JOSHUA go to MRS. PRIMM. She squeezes their hands in hers.)

Mrs. Primm: Joshua, Lyle is a very lucky crocodile. Because he doesn’t have just one mother, like you do. He has TWO mothers, one human mother, and one crocodile mother. And his two mothers both love him very, very much.
